The perfect Peruvian cafe!

Craig and I found this cute cafe while looking for dinner near our hotel in the Miraflores district in Lima. We chose PiscoBar due to the good reviews and the location. It was within walking distance of our hotel, Casa Andina Miraflores Centro, as well as the Inka Market.

If you're looking for a light meal and some drinks, this is a great choice. It has a warm and pleasant atmosphere, and a super friendly staff.

We didn’t want to go too far out of the neighborhood as we were scheduled to take the train to Machu Picchu the next day, and hike Huayna Picchu (you know that big mountain you always see in the background of pics of Machu Picchu?) in two days. We opted to stick close to ground zero and turn in early for the long day of travel ahead.

Unfortunately, my Spanish reading comprehension isn't muy bien and the menu is solo en Espanol. The waiter (bless his heart) did his best to help us through it (muchas gracias por tu ayuda!!)

What I like best about the menu is that it is small and simple. There are 11 entrees and 10 small plates. There are nice a variety of drinks -- including the Peruvian national drink, the Pisco Sour. We didn't order any alcohol, again, due to the impending travel to the “higher ground” that is Machu Picchu, and I didn't want to tempt the dehydration.

We ordered the seafood risotto and seafood "linguini", which was served in a light sauce, with vegetables, shrimp, and lightly pan fried whitefish. The risotto had a more spicy zing to it, which was perhaps the “northern style” the menu advertised. The portions were perfect – we didn't walk out stuffed, but satisfied.

I hope to come here again. In my perfect world, I have enough time and resources to re-visit every place I fall in love with!
